NRA Provides Textbook Example of Gross Hypocrisy

NRA…guns in school are cool and necessary.

NRA…guns at our convention would be too dangerous.

In order to help keep people safe, all guns at the NRA convention “will be nonoperational,” with the weapons’ firing pins removed. The irony is hard to miss.

  1. It is not uncommon for any convention to require inanimate objects displayed on the floor to be non-functional. They make sure cars and boats don’t start up on the floors right?

So why is the NRA being castigated for taking the same safety precautions?
Especially since the attendees in the Music City Venue will be allowed to carry firearms – but in the Bridgestone Arena they won’t be able to. Because that is the policy of the arena, not the NRA. Imagine that NRA members and leaders respecting the policies and rights of property owners.

    • >They make sure cars and boats don’t start up on the floors right?

Wrong. You can most definitely find a working car on a car convention floor.

      >So why is the NRA being castigated for taking the same safety precautions?

Because they don’t think those same safety precautions SHOULD APPLY TO SCHOOLS.

This isn’t hard to see the blatant hypocrisy here, not sure why you are trying so hard to miss it.

      >Imagine that NRA members and leaders respecting the policies and rights of property owners.

Imagine if they were rational enough to realize that having guns around is dangerous…oh wait…they are…but not around your kids.

      • NRA…guns at our convention would be too dangerous.

Except they are allowing firearms at the convention. So you are wrong. What is so hard about admitting that idea?

Because they don’t think those same safety precautions SHOULD APPLY TO SCHOOLS.

Let’s see they NRA calls for armed parents or law enforcement personnel to be stationed in schools. The NRA allows armed people and law enforcement in the convention — seems like they think the same precautions apply?

      • You have a fact deficit, Senor Boxes of Bullshit.

The Tennessean reports this week on the “multilevel security plan,” which includes an important safety measure: “All guns on the convention floor will be nonoperational, with the firing pins removed, and any guns purchased during the NRA convention will have to be picked up at a Federal Firearms License dealer, near where the purchaser lives, and will require a legal identification.”

Stop trying to post your bullshit here.

  2. Update: Activists are pushing back against the reporting from The Tennessean and the New York Daily News, arguing that guns on the convention floor will not be operational, but those safety rules don’t override the state’s open-carry laws. The Memphis Daily News published a piece explaining Tennessee gun laws in more detail.
Second Update: A knowledgeable source tells The Rachel Maddow Show that convention attendees will be permitted to carry their guns in the Music City Center – so long as they have the proper permit – but they will not be able carry loaded firearms into the Bridgestone Arena where NRA leaders and Republican presidential hopefuls will speak.

I’m not denying that display firearms will be non-functional. But functional firearms will be allowed in the Convention — That convention will be held in the Music City Center. So the idea that that NRA is afraid of their people is inane.

The facts don’t back up your argument.

I love how you have to resort to name calling and insults in order to try to win a debate.

    • You need to read your whole comment…

but they will not be able carry loaded firearms into the Bridgestone Arena where NRA leaders and Republican presidential hopefuls will speak.

Guns are not loaded…..because loaded guns are not safe enough for the NRA and GOP.

What about this hypocrisy do you not understand? All of it?

      >I love how you have to resort to name calling

Ummm…hey “bob”…your handles is “threes boxes of bullshit” right? That’s the name you call yourself. Your hypocrisy really does know no bounds.
