Robot Eyes Are Watching You From Space

The Associated Press: Robot Getting Eyes, Tools in Spacewalk

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — Spacewalking astronauts stepped outside Monday night to give the space station’s new robot some eyes and a set of tools. It was the third spacewalk of shuttle Endeavour’s visit to the station, each one aimed at putting together Dextre, the giant robot.

The last time astronauts floated out, Dextre got arms. This time, the robot was getting a tool belt and two cameras that will serve as eyes — interestingly, at waist level.

You can see my brother’s basic schematic here.

My only advice…don’t piss off the giant orbiting robot.

Iran, The Joke That Wouldn’t Die

For Iran, Iraq is a two-edged sword | csmonitor.com

The gloating tone was unmistakable, as Iran’s Friday prayer leader spoke about President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s recent visit to Iraq – and compared it with similar visits by his American counterpart, President Bush.

“When Bush is traveling to the region, even the stewardess on the flight does not know where they are going,” crowed the black-turbaned cleric, Ahmad Khatami. “But we clearly state the agenda of President Ahmadinejad.”

Gloat all you want ‘lil buddy. The U.S. did in 3 months what Iran couldn’t do in 8 years. It would have taken me nanosecond, but that’s neither here nor there.
