The Energy of Neurons: Balancing Self and Community

;

$content = [

This is one of my favorite pieces of art I think I’ve gotten so far.

It’s a very interesting story about some scientific research as well.

It’s an analysis on how much energy individual neurons spend toward doing one of two things.

Their direct job communicating accurate information.

Or work towards building social structures on how to communicate and who to communicate with.

I.e focusing on the self, or focusing on the community.

Turns out they do both of these all of the time. Never one really dominating with enough slack to adapt to any given situation.

Not that you should pattern your life after an individual neuron, but it does seem to be something that shows up a lot as an effective organizational structure for exceptionally complex systems (like consciousness itself in this case).

In that regard, I have logins working for people who have Google accounts or emails.

I’m planning to try and roll it out today if I can get like two likes or maybe one person who can comment here to read this all the way to the end. See the actual point is that I’m trying to get comments from someone who would like to help me (debug some code, build a new online community, change the world, etc).

Also, do I have any Discord gurus in the crowd? Might be time to get that rolling as well…

NOTE: Regarding the game…there is an “ideological” axis that is use do determine (randomly) the ideology (id) of each character. One of the axes is the “selfish/socialist” axis. This are the two different modes of action described above. To focus on the self, or organizing the whole. The ability to do both (as the situation requires), being the optimal strategy.
