What Happens When Fear and Paranoia Drive Your Political Ideology

Republican fear factor – Salon.com http://www.salon.com/2012/05/03/republican_fear_factor_salpart/

The White House has been usurped by a Kenyan socialist named Barry Soetero, who hatched an elaborate plot to pass himself off as a citizen of the United States –a plot the media refuse to even investigate. This president doesn’t just claim the right to assassinate suspected terrorists who are beyond the reach of law enforcement –he may be planning on rounding up his ideological opponents and putting them into concentration camps if he is reelected. He may have murdered a blogger who was critical of his administration, but authorities refuse to investigate. At the very least, he is plotting on disarming the American public after the election, in accordance with a secret deal cut with the UN and possibly with the assistance of foreign troops.

There is more and more science being done on brain chemistry and political stances. Read the article I just linked for sources. As it’s science they won’t like, conservatives will feel a strong urge to dismiss it out of hand or claim those doing the science or mentioning it are part of the conspiracy…which means it can be dismissed out of hand. See how hard it is to return to reality from that mindset? So do we, conservatives….so do we.

Yo, I heard you like hot summers and droughts, so I added hot summers, melting sea ice, droughts and wildfires to your hot summers and droughts

Arctic Sea Ice Hits Record Low—Extreme Weather to Come?

Arctic sea ice is thawing at a historic rate, scientists say. In fact, a recent analysis of satellite data “utterly obliterates” the previous record, set in 2007.

The chief culprit? Global warming. The potential upshot? Longer and more intense extreme-weather events such as heat waves, cold spells, and droughts.

On Monday, researchers at the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center said the rate of Arctic sea ice decline is now the highest that has ever been observed. In August, the sea ice disappeared at an average rate of about 39 square miles (a hundred square kilometers)—or about twice as normal, NSIDC scientists say.

Moreover, the area of Arctic sea ice around the North Pole had shrunk to 1.58 million square miles (4.1 million square kilometers)—the smallest measurement since 1979, when satellite observations began.

It’s a sick situation when science predicts something will happen, gets it wrong….but gets slammed because they were too conservative in their predictions.

Double irony…”conservatives” actually reject the entire notion this happening at all.

Crazy Conservative Anti-Gay Rant Turns out to just be Crazy

A video of a woman testifying against the anti-discrimination ordinance at the Lincoln City Council this week went viral, but her family says she is diagnosed with schizophrenia and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Jane Svoboda, 52, made several bizarre and disjointed statements during her five minutes of testimony at Monday’s meeting.

“A huge percent of gay men in school grounds molest boys, partly because they don’t have AIDS yet,” she said.

“Whitney Houston was found without clothes in a bathtub. Every corpse found without clothes has a partner who did away with them.

“Hillary Clinton’s roommate four years in college was a gay woman. To avoid going gay like Clinton did, college students need single rooms and single gender dorms.”

via Video of testifier’s anti-gay words goes viral, but there’s more to the story.

This happens to be a slight variation of something known online as Poe’s Law.

Poe’s Law is an axiom suggesting that it’s difficult, if not impossible, to distinguish between parodies of religious or other fundamentalism and its genuine proponents, since they both seem equally insane

And in this case, it’s the difficulty of distinguishing the rants of fundies and an actual crazy person.

How Obama got elected

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 18, 2008 09:11 AM

Three words: Stupid people voted.

Lots and lots of stupid people.

This is nice.  Pretty funny actually.  Those links go a poll that some nutjub McCain whiner hired “Zogby” to do.  As a polling company, this is what they do.  It should be noted, however, that the questions here are supplied by the client, it’s the methodology and actual polling done by the contractee.

The guy hired Zogby to do the poll so he wouldn’t be outed as a sneaky editor for making his documentary regarding the stupidity of the majority of American voters.  Sadly, looking at the poll results and then the video (which I’ll post at the end) reveals *EXACTLY* how sneaky and underhanded it is.

The poll results are interesting.   What is more interesting is how the guy who commissioned the poll is spinning it, while at the same time whining about the election to everyone that will listen.

Read on for that story….
