I think this settles it…Marines always beat Pirates…and American Marines saving Iranian Hostages from Pirates has a certain ironic flavor to it

WASHINGTON – A member of the same US aircraft carrier group that Iran has warned not to return to the Strait of Hormuz has rescued 13 Iranians held hostage by pirates in the Arabian Sea, the Pentagon said on Friday.

“The Iranians and the dhow (a traditional vessel) have been released and they’re on their way back home,” said Captain John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman.

Throw Away A CD : That’s the Stocks For You

Universal Music: it’s illegal to throw away the promo CD we sent you without your permission – Boing Boing

The Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Fred von Lohmann sez, “In a brief filed in federal court yesterday, Universal Music Group (UMG) states that, when it comes to the millions of promotional CDs (‘promo CDs’) that it has sent out to music reviewers, radio stations, DJs, and other music industry insiders, throwing them away is ‘an unauthorized distribution’ that violates copyright law. Yes, you read that right — if you’ve ever received a promo CD from UMG, and you don’t still have it, UMG thinks you’re a pirate.”

It’s becoming easier and easier to becomes a pirate nowadays.   If you are going to be called one anyway, might as well do it right.

Home of Pirates vs. Ninjas

If pirates and ninjas fought, who would win?
The old question has been around since the 1960s, but for the past five years it has been making its way into the mainstream. Pirates vs. ninjas is characterized by over the top debates as people discuss swashbuckling moves versus martial arts action, corsairs cannonballing ninjutsu clans, ninjas poisoning rum, the robust life of piracy and shinobi stealth. The feud has taken hold of comic book fans, role-players, anime and manga fans, video gamers, sci-fi and fantasy crowds, and it’s battling its way into the popular mindset. PiratesVersusNinjas.net is the home of the pirates vs. ninjas debate.

The lie to this whole thing is that Pirates and Ninjas could ever be brought together on a battlefield.  Pirates own the high seas, Ninjas the night.  And never the two shall meet.
