Republicans on reorganization: Why weren’t we consulted?
Republicans in Congress complained Friday that President Obama didn’t consult them before recommending a government reorganization to better serve the business community.
In a sign of the continuing political discord in Washington, GOP leaders were quick to criticize the way in which Obama proposed something they actually favor.
“After three years in the White House presiding over the largest expansion of government in generations, the timing of this announcement and the failure to consult Congress raise questions about the president’s commitment to a real reorganization and reduction in the size of the federal government,” said Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee.
“What’s disconcerting is that the president has again chosen not to work with Congress — even after I specifically asked the Obama administration to fully brief Congress if it chose to reorganize our trade agencies,” he said.
I’m pretty sure he’s made a request that you folks stop being knee jerk obstructionists…and we all know where that request was filed.
Also, it should be noted that ‘1/535th of Congress’ is not the same as ‘President’, which should put Hatch’s request in proper perspective.
