So we’ve gone through another image model upgrade for roguevibe.app. This is one of those *really?!?* upgrades, as it includes improvements on speed, accurate, *and* cost (cheaper, faster, better).

For those generally familiar with how products evolve over time, this is not not the normal progression. This is coming as various labs are saying that recursive improvements are now starting to show progress, if not taking over. As such, there are talks about a “pause” in frontier model development, and I’m all for that…but…

…one should understand that *one country* does not control or own this technology (which is actually just a LOT of math). So while a pause might help with some of the *societal effects* of this technology doing this (better, faster, cheaper) on an *even faster pace*, the results of that overall might not be what everyone wanted as the result.

Also, the more of this that *happens in the shadows* the greater the likelihood that something goes wildly wrong. And while Chinese organizations are regularly releasing *open weight* (~open source) models on a consistent basis, I think it’s a safe bet to understand their *private* models are as state of the art as their electric cars.

I’ve long been of the opinion that it is difficult to fear something you truly understand, so I will continue with my work to understand *and utilize* this technology, as I work with it in various ways both in my day job and my night fun.
