Do they do they same when someone *living* is lazy with their password?

NationalJournal.com – FBI Investigates Hacking of NBC News Twitter Account – Saturday, September 10, 2011 http://mobile.nationaljournal.com/tech/fbi-investigates-hacking-of-nbc-news-twitter-account-20110910

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the Friday afternoon hacking of NBC News’ Twitter account, the news organization reported on Saturday. The bureau’s computer crimes unit said that they were still collecting information, and did not discuss any specifics or suspects.

A group calling themselves the Script Kiddies broke into the account on Friday. Multiple false tweets were sent stating that hijacked planes had crashed into Ground Zero, just two days before the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

NBC was lax in security, so we have to use public money to degrade their integrity?

Oh…and a ‘script kiddie’ is usually some young techie with access to someone else’s hacking tools.  Which is to say, there’s several million if them in basements across the nation.  It’s not an organized group, its like a character class.

In this case, I’d guess a WiFi stiffer and lax security and the culprits.  Why the FBI is involved is a bit beyond me, other than being on hyper-alert right now.
